The border castles, during the 10th, 11th and 12th centuries, were a real defensive network for the territory. The area of ​​Lleida, which includes most of the counties of Segarra, Urgell and Noguera, determines a thematic route that fully coincides with the border lines and draws, even today, a very characteristic historical and monumental landscape with more of 30 castles. So much so, that this land is popularly known as "La Castella de Catalunya". 

The "Castells de Lleida: A Journey to the Past" Route allows you to enjoy the very different sensations that castles offer us. And it is that the guided tour of its outbuildings transports us to the past and takes us into the history of its stones, which is in the end our own history.
